Finally, that lovely time of year is here where we can walk to the local markets and pick up fresh produce and treats for our patio’s, friends and families.
There are loads of great markets in Metro Vancouver and the following sites can help you find the one closest to your home – hopefully close enough so you can walk there ;]
The Mission of Vancouver Farmers Markets is
“to foster community health and local economic development through the creation of a venue where community members have greater access to safe, healthy, locally produced, environmentally friendly food, and where BC producers can market their goods directly to urban consumers“.
We organize 4 summer Farmers Markets
East Vancouver (Trout Lake) – Saturdays, 9am – 2pm
North Parking Lot of Trout Lake Park
West End – Saturdays, 9am – 2pm
1100 Block of Comox Street
Main Street Station – Wednesdays, 3pm – 7pm
Main Street Skytrain Station at Terminal Ave
Kitsilano – Sundays, 10am – 2pm
10th Avenue & Larch Street
…. as well as a twice-monthly Winter Farmers Market (Nov – Apr) and an annual indoor Holiday Market in December.
The BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM) represents farmers’ markets throughout the Province. To become a member, vendors must make, bake or grow the products and then sell them at the market. Farmers’ markets sell a wide range of farm-fresh, wholesome foods including fruits and vegetables, organics, specialty cheese, eggs, beef, seafood, jams, artisan products, and so much more! Watch for upcoming special events at farmers’ markets. Farmers’ markets are an important part of communities and make shopping for food a whole lot of fun for the entire family!
