We distributed them right away as we are all so very keen on this challenge! The signs are both in our front and back lawns and have immediately increased both our awareness as well as interest from our community. This follows nicely from the news media we received last week.
We have had people visiting the blog after reading the paper and posting comments – thank you! Please keep it up. We have also had people stop us in our yards and ask questions about what it all means. This has come at a great time when perhaps we all need a bit of a pick-me-up to keep going.
The image above is of our lovely neighbour Yolanda and her 5-year-old daughter placing the sign in their lush garden.
As an aside to the signs I think we realized a bit too late that although the signs are great for raising awareness, they themselves have now become waste. We have one neighbour who did not accept the sign and opted to paint their own instead thus further reducing their footprint on our world. Well done. This is something we need to change for future communities for sure!
So – keep the comments coming. Stop us on the street and ask us questions and if the spirit moves you start reducing and join us right away.
