One of the Green Cones that was installed during the Easter holiday is up and running with a few families using it. We still need to install a lock on it but for now it seems safe from people passing by and using it for a regular garbage receptacle. See picture.
Barb who helped install the green cone thinks her family is overzealous already using it with in days of it being set up redirecting waste from our garbage streams! She has noticed things like pasta in it already and wonders if this is acceptable. From what we have researched pasta is fine as is meat bones, chicken skin, fat, old bread, etc.
We will post the list of acceptable items that can go in the green cone on the blog soon!
So we are up and running with one green cone in place, composters installed and now we are trying to find another location for the second green cone.
