Today was my first foray shopping with my new Moukisac’s that I purchased a few weeks back. It was like playing with a new toy all shiny and new!
It was peculiar in that I felt a bit funny as no one else in Choices Organic Market had any bags like this. Many had reusable bags to pack their purchases in but not small produce/bulk bags like mine. Needless to say I had a few curious glances and raised eyebrows…
I had all the bags stuffed inside one of the big one so I was floundering a bit as I tried to select a size and shape for different items like mini-mandarines, pears, avocado’s, brocoli, carrots with the stems, asparagus, etc, etc.
I thought it all looked rather pretty in their bags – much nicer than plastic and I felt this new sense of relief and pride.
It was very simple and kept everything together nicely. This is different for me as I never use plastic bags for my produce so often items get bruised and tossed around and I know that the cashiers really dislike having 12 apples, 8 pears, 6 oranges, a variety of brocoli, cauliflower and other items getting their checkout wet and dirty….it is tough for them to pack as well. This time there was none of those feelings and unpacking was a breeze!
Best of all I get to reuse these bags over and over and over!
Check them out – you will love them: Moukisac
I was so excited to read about these I immediately went out and bought some for every one I know (I know, I’m the crazy RRR girl among my friends!) I’ve often thought we needed a better system for fruits etc. I do reuse the plastic bags but they eventually get manky. I did make some mesh bags last summer, but they are very fine black mesh and hard to see into and don’t have the drawstring to close them so I never ended up using them. Thanks for the link!
Thanks for this recommendation!
I too love my Moukinets.
Isn’t it funny that once you’re using reusable produce bags, you really become aware of everyone who isn’t? I never used to think twice about it, but now the excessive plastic in our grocery stores just jumps out at me.
